MWR Operation Rising Star - August 2, 9, 16, and 25th at 6:30 p.m. at the Pershong Community Center. Active duty, reserve, guard, and their dependents are eligible to sign up for this exciting vocal competition. Register today at the FMWR special events office located in building 1000, Suite 110 on South Dakota Avenue.

PCHS Yappy Hour - August 4th from 6:30 to 8:00 p.m. Leash up the dogs and join us for a stroll through one of Pulaski County's local parks on the First Thursday of each month. Meet at the St. Robert City Park, J.H. Williamson Drive at the pavilion.

Free Golf Clinic - August 6th from 9:00 am - 11:00 am The Piney Valley Golf Course is hosting a FREE golf clinic. Learn the basics of the game, tips and pointers for those who want to improve on their game. Members/mentors, golf instructors, golf professionals and PGA Pros will be available on site with techniques, tips, and more. Sign up before July 30 and receive a FREE round of golf when you arrive at the clinic and a chance to be entered in for a drawing for a FREE putter, must participate in the clinic to win. Fly Fishing 101 - August 6th from 10:00 am -3:00 pm the Outdoor Adventure Center is hosting a Fly Fishing 101 program. Program offers an in-depth introduction to the world of fly fishing, taught by Fort Leonard Wood's very own expert Mr. Greg Maxwell. No fishing license is required for this program. Cost is $10 per person and program is open to the public. Youth ages 13 and under must be accompanied by an adult. Interested participants must be registered before program begins at the Outdoor Adventure Center located in Bldg. 2290 off FLW K Road. For more information call 596-4223.

Food and School Supply Give Away - August 6th from 10:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. at the St. Robert Municipal Building Parking Lot Still Useable Ministries will be giving out one week's supply of food to the first 400 families and free school suplies. Everyone is invited to attend this event. There will be snow cones, face painting, children's finger painting, Daisy the Clown, live music and much more. Children must be present for families to receive food and school supplies. Any and all donations would be appreciated. Senior Gold Tour - August 9th The Piney Valley Golf Course is hosting their annual Senior Tour with shot gun beginning at 9am. Cost is $30 per person, $25 for PVGC members, includes breakfast. **Please note** The Chamber of Commerce is excited to have such a large number of its members attend monthly luncheons. Unfortunately, due to the large number of last minute Chamber luncheon attendees a policy has been put into place by the Chamber Board of Directors. This policy started in APRIL 2005; anyone who responds after the R.s.v.p. cut-off time (9:00 a.m. the Tuesday before the luncheon) or shows up without an R.s.v.p. may be charged an additional $10. If an R.s.v.p. is received and they do not attend the luncheon there may be a $10 charged for the meal. The decision was made to charge this amount to compensate our Chamber member restaurants for the last minute adjusts they must make to their menus.

Operation Workforce is a workforce recruitment program promoting the connection between employees seeking part-time/full-time positions with employers providing those employment opportunities. Commander's Golf Scramble - August 12th Piney Valley Golf Course is hosting a Commander?s Golf Scramble with a 12:00 pm shotgun start. Scramble consists of a 4 person team. LORA Bass Tournamnet - August 12th The Lake of the Ozarks Recreation Area (LORA) is hosting their annual Bass Tournament beginning at 7:30 pm (or first safelight). Weigh-in is at 1:00 am. Entry fee per boat is $40 and a $10 fee for big bass (optional). Stop by the Outdoor Adventure Center or LORA for entry forms/rules. Tournament is open to the public. 3-D Archery Tournament - August 13th The Outdoor Adventure Center is hosting their annual 3-D Archery Tournament from 10:30 am - 4:00 pm. Tournament will be a normal 3D shoot, a great opportunity to test your capabilities in judging yardage and shot placement. The course is comprised of 30 stations shot from a single point. Beat the Heat Summer Reading Finale - August 13th Join us at the Clarke Library?s Annual Beat the Heat Summer Reading Finale from 1:00 pm - 4:30pm. Enjoy a day of lots of fun entertainment, games & tons of water provided by the dueling fire trucks of Fort Leonard Wood/St. Robert, and more. PFAC 4th Annual Family Carnival - August 13th from 2:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. at the Pulaski Community Center, 21384 N Hwy Y, St. Robert. Come join us as we celebrate the beginning of the school year with a family carnival. There will be various games for kids of all ages, pony rides, bounce houses, dunk tank, food, vendors, and much more. Proceeds will go to the construction of a community playground. Concealed Carry Class - August 14th The Outdoor Adventure Center is hosting Concealed Carry Class; the first step in acquiring a Missouri CCW endorsement, including weapons qualification on the range. Class is from 8:00 am - 5:00 pm. Cost is $15 to register, $65 day of class. Each student must bring a photo id, eye and hearing protection, semi-automatic handgun and a revolver (plus min of 50 round each), and lunch or money for food. All handguns must be in good working condition. Guns and ammos are will NOT be allowed in the building during class. Class is open to the public 21 yrs. and older. Military Appreciation Day at the Missouri State Fair - August 14th Military Appreciation Day - "Show-Me Salutes" Missouri State Fair, Sedalia, Missouri. Ceremony is scheduled to begin at 2 p.m. in Mathewson Exhibition Center. This event is to honor service men and women from all branches of the military, with special tribute going to Vietnam veterans. Admission is free to all veterans, active-duty members, National Guard, Reserve and retirees. Admission is $1.00 for family members.

Tops in Blue "Rhythm Nation" - August 17th at 6:30 p.m. at Baker Theater Family & MWR presents Tops in Blue "Rhythm Nation." The 2011 tour brings to life the music of America, from the early 1900s through today. The event is free and open to the public. For more information call 573-596-6913.

Fort Leonard Wood Professional Bull Riding Day - August 19th Family & MWR and Fort Leonard Wood present Professional Bull Riding Day; dust off your cowboy hat and boots and come out to Colyer Park from 4:00 pm - 6:00 pm to meet the top 40 professional bull riders to include PBR's bucking bulls Boot Daddy and Disco Baby, performance by the Texas Tenors, great prizes, face painting and more. C.A.R.E.S. Expo - August 26th from 10:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. at Nutter Field House on Ft. Leonard Wood. This is an opportunity for individuals (especially those new to the Fort Leonard Wood community) to see what great activities are available in the local community.This event is for agencies to display information about their organization, and register participants or volunteers. There is no cost to attend but agencies must register, as space is limited. Open Water Diver Course - August 26th to 28th The Outdoor Adventure Center is hosting an Open Water Diver's Course; experience the underwater world of the Ozarks through this 3-day event where you will learn to scuba dive, taught by a Professional Association of Diving Instructors (PADI) certified instructor. Course will take place at the Lake of the Ozarks Recreation Area (LORA). Cost is $650 per person, includes Open Water DVD, personal materials (mask, snorkel, fins, dive boots--$500 Value), travel, lodging, and food. Kiwanis Second Annual Gun, Knife & Archery Show - August 27th from 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. at the St. Robert Community Center. Vendors, Dealers and Individuals are Welcome. Cost is $2. Food will be available.

Military Appreciation Day, St. Louis Cardinals Baseball - September 10th the local and St. Louis AUSA Chapters are hosting a tailgate party in the southwest parking lot beginning at 3:00 p.m. Game time is scheduled for 6:15 p.m. with pre-game ceremony starting before. The CG and MCSM are slated to throw our ceremonial first pitches along with Scott AFB representatives. The 399th Army Band will play the National Anthem, and the Joint Services Color Guard will present the colors. Tickets may be purchased at the FLW ITR office, Building 490, phone: 573-329-8587. The St. Louis Cardinals will play the Atlanta Braves.

Old Stagecoach Stop Annual Appreciation Day - September 24th Appreciation Day expresses the Foundation's "Thank You" to the community for its support of the Foundation's mission and efforts.
