
Smithsonian Traveling Exhibit - Journey Stories -
October 2nd The Old Stagecoach Stop is pleased to announce
it has been selected as one of only six sites in the state
of Missouri to host the Journey Stories Exhibit. The exhibit
will be on display from October 2nd thru November 13 2010
at the Roubidoux Early Childhood Center, located on School
Street in Waynesville. Journey Stories are tales of how we
and our ancestors came to America an element of our personal
heritage. The exhibit will consist of 8 interactive panels,
including audio and video recordings. The Old Stagecoach Stop
will also develop and present a companion exhibit and educational
programs and activities that center on our local heritage.
Exhibit hours will be Tuesdays from 1 p.m. - 7 p.m., Wednesdays
for school tours and by appointment only, Thursdays from 1
p.m. - 7 p.m., Fridays for school tours and by appointment
only, Saturdays from 10 a.m. - 5 p.m. and Sundays from 1 p.m.
- 5 p.m. Every Saturday there will be special events held
and all the events are free of charge.
Old Stagecoach Stop Annual Appreciation Day - October
2nd join us for a day of old-fashioned fun at The Old Stagecoach
Stop Museum. There will be craft demonstrations such as basket
weaving, quilting and wood carving. Children's activities
and live music by the River Berry Players. Free of charge.
Pass the Plate - Southern Spice Café is hosting
Pass the Plate a free dinner on the 1st Sunday of every month
from 12 p.m. to 3 p.m.. This event is presented by Metamorphosis

Auditions for PFAA's "A Hillbilly Christmas"
and "Charlie and the Chocolate Factory" - October
4th and 5th at 7 p.m. Auditions will be held at Theatre on
the Square, 312 Historic Route 66 in Waynesville. Performance
dates are November 26th, 27th, and 28th. December 3rd, 4th,
5th, 10th, 11th, and 12th at Theatre on the Square. Evening
performance begin at 7:30 p.m. and matinees begin at 2:30

Freedom from Smoking- Tuesdays from 4:30 to 5:30 p.m.,
October 5th through November 16th (week 4 will meet twice)
in Education Classrooms A-B there will be a Freedom from Smoking
program presentation. Freedom from Smoking includes eight
one-hour group sessions that teach an approach to quitting
through positive behavior change. Recognizing that no two
smokers or smoking habits are alike, the program helps YOU
develop your own quitting plan. Enrollment is limited, so

SIS "Sisters in Song"- A performance will
be held featuring the Sisters in Song on Wednesday October
6th beginning at 10 a.m. at the Pulaski County Mureum in the
upstairs courtroom. The 45 minute presentation will feature
old-fashion/camp fire revival songs and folk tunes all presented

Fun Night - The Travelers Square Dance Club announces

October Fest - The Cave Restaurant celebrates on October8th,
and 9th from 5 to 10 p.m. at their outdoor picnic area. They
will be serving three kinds of beer, German food as well as
their catfish. There will also be games, music and fun.
Frogtober Fest 2010 - The 13th annual Frog Fest will
begin at 10 a.m. at the Waynesville City Park on October 9th.
Society for Creative Anachronism's Shire of Calanais Nudah
(SCA) will perform battle simulations form the Renaissance
era throughout the day and allows visitors a chance to experience
the Middle Ages through crafts, arts and demonstrations. Puppet
shows will be given intervals beginning at noon. There will
be rides, games, food, and entertainment for the entire family.
Also the annual "Kiss the Frog" contest will take
place with Luge Hardman, Todd Williams and Darrell Todd Maurina

Frog Races - The 3rd Annual Frog Races will be held
by the Waynesville-St. Robert Chamber of Commerce in conjunction
with Frogtober Fest at the Waynesville City Park on October
9th. Sponsoring this event is Aaron's Sales and Leasing. "Adopt"
a frog for $5 or a team of 3 for $10. Frogs will race down
the Roubidoux and the first heat will begin at 1 p.m. For

Red Corn, Director of the Osage Tribal Museum in Pawhuska,
OK. October 9th at the Roubidoux Early Childhood Center at
2 p.m. She will describe the history and heritage of the Osage
and answer questions.
"Toys for Tots" Golf Tournament - The Marine
Corps League Sgt Darrell S. Cole Detachment 1195 is holding
a "Toys for Tots" Charity Golf Tournament on Saturday
October 16th at the Oak Hills Golf and Country Club in Dixon.

will be sold on the day of the event for those that wish to

Senior Citizen's Campaign Forum - Tuesday evening,
October 12th, the Waynesville-St. Robert Senior Citizens Center
will host a campaign forum for U.S., State and local candidates
campaigning for the November 2nd general election. There will
be a chili, soup, and dessert dinner served starting at 5
p.m. until 6:30 p.m. prior to the forum at the cost of $7
each. Presentation of the flag will be at 6:30 p.m. with the
candidates to speak following this presentation.

**Please note** The Chamber of Commerce is excited to
have such a large number of its members attend monthly luncheons.
Unfortunately, due to the large number of last minute Chamber
luncheon attendees a policy has been put into place by the
Chamber Board of Directors. This policy started in April 2005;
anyone who responds after the R.s.v.p. cut-off time (9:00
a.m. the Tuesday before the luncheon) or shows up without
an R.s.v.p. may be charged an additional $10. If an R.s.v.p.
is received and they do not attend the luncheon there may
be a $10 charged for the meal. The decision was made to charge
this amount to compensate our Chamber member restaurants for
the last minute adjusts they must make to their menus.
Commanders' Golf Scramble - October 15th. Are you
up for a little friendly competition? Bring friends, co-workers,
or battle buddies for Piney Valley Golf Course's Commander's
Scramble', with shot-gun beginning at Noon. Cost is $140 per
team and includes food and drinks. Register 3 days prior to
each event. A$5 late fee will apply when you register after
deadline. AGFP will receive $10 cash rebate after event using
their tournament punch card.

Halloween Fun Run/Walk and Trunk and Treat Event -
Saturday, Oct. 16th from 10:00 AM until 12:30 PM on Ft. Leonard
Wood there will be a 3K Family Friendly Fun Run/Walk. All
participants are asked to come in costume. Fun Run takes place
on Iowa Ave, starting at Baker Theater. Following the run
will be a Trunk 'N Treat event at Baker Theater parking lot
for Fun Run participants ONLY. Must pre-register. 3K Entry
Fee: $10.00 per adult, $5.00 per child (ages 5-15), and $25.00
for a family of 3 or more. Children under 5 FREE. Registration:
Begins September 1, 2010 to October 16, 2010. First 100 paid
participants receive a t-shirt. Must sign in prior to race
starting at 9:15AM at Baker Theater. This is a Halloween themed

The Ozark Johnboat - October 16th from 12 p.m. - 4
p.m. at the Roubidoux Early Childhood Center. Before there
were decent roads in the Ozarks, travel via our many rivers
and streams was a necessary alternative. Flat bottom boats
were in common usage at least by the late 1800's. They were
used for hunting, fishing, trapping and for general transportation.
Don Foerster, master johnboat builder, will demonstrate his
craft and talk about the history of the johnboat and its role
in the settlement of the Ozarks.
Floatapalooza - Join us for an amazing fall float
on the beautiful Gasconade River. All proceeds to benefit
the new Richland Skate Park. Floatapalooza will be held on
October 16th at 10 a.m. at the Gasconade Hills Resort (Exit
off of I-44 to Hwy AB then to Spring Rd.). Cost is $50/canoe,
two people per canoe. This is limited to the first 140 canoes.
We will provide you with a canoe, transportation to the launch
site and a bunch of fun. So bring your cooler and some snacks!

Arsenic and Old Lace - The Waynesville High School
Speech and Theatre Department are Thespian Troupe 1669 will
present the classic farce Arsenic and Old Lace, by
Joseph Kesselring, on Thursday October 21st, Friday October
22nd, and Saturday October 23rd along with a final afternoon
performance at 2:30 p.m. on Sunday, October 24th. All performances
will be in the Waynesville High School Theatre. Ticket prices
will be $5 for adults, $4 for high school and middle school
students, and $3 for children. A special $3 senior citizen
discount will be offered for the Sunday afternoon performance.
2010 Community Health Fair - Phelps County Regional
Medical Center is hosting a Community Health Fair on Saturday
October 23rd from 9 a.m. to noon at The Centre at 1200 N.
Holloway in Rolla. There will be exhibits, health screenings,
car seat checks, children's activities and more! If you have
ever had a health question, here is your chance to find some
answers. This event is being held in conjunction with Make
a Difference Day.
Trail of Tears Commemoration at Laughlin Park - October
23rd from 12 p.m. - 4 p.m. The Indian Removal Act of 1830
mandated the relocation of Native nations from their ancestral
lands in eastern states. In the winter if 1838-39, several
Cherokee groups journeyed almost 1000 miles to Oklahoma. Many
died along the way. Waynesville was a stop along this Trail
of Tears, and the city of Waynesville, in partnership with
the National Park Service is developing an interpretive trail
at the site of the Cherokee encampment by the Roubidoux Spring.
Dedication of the historic site and celebration of the Cherokee
history and culture through music, dance, film, folktales,
fry bread and more will take place at Laughlin Park.
14th Annual Halloween Bash - October 23rd from 6:30
p.m. - 9:30 p.m. FORR Local 28 present the 14th Annual Halloween
Bash at the Pulaski County Fort Leonard Wood Shrine Club,
26920 Shrine Road in Waynesville. (Exit 153 off 1-44). Kids
