"COME GROW WITH US"

The month of October was a successful month for the City of St. Robert and our community. We have been working diligently for over 18 months on the development of a Pedestrian Bridge to span Interstate 44 for the safety of the public. That hard work has paid off with the City being awarded a $500,000.00 Transportation Enhancement Grant to support those construction efforts. On October 14th our Public Works Director presented the City's grant proposal before the Missouri Department of Transportation, District 9 Headquarters and the Meremac Regional Planning Commission Transportation Advisory Committee in which the City's proposal finished as the top presentation that helped the City garner the grant award. The bridge will be constructed adjacent to the western Missouri Avenue overpass at I-44, with a construction completion date of September 12, 2012. This important capital improvement will provide the means for our citizens to safely cross Interstate 44 from north to south, and interconnect to the existing pedestrian walking trails in the City. This will unquestionably provide greater access to the commercial areas and the Municipal Park amenities that will be open in 2011.

We have been notified that the rates we are charged for electrical power to the City will not go up for 2011, and early projections are that natural gas rates may stay the same as well. Public improvements that have been completed this year include the new asphalt overlays on Peggy Ave., Debra Ave., Vaughn Cir, Vaughn Ct., Lee Dr., and work will be completed in the next 45 days on the complete rehabilitation and widening of J.H. Williamson Dr that provides access to the Municipal Park. Numerous improvements to waterline and sanitary sewer collection infrastructure have been completed to update the aged systems that are in various areas of the City.

The water tower adjacent to Old Route 66 on the west end of the City is not a new tower, but the water tower we have had maintenance performed on. To show our support for our Waynesville Tigers and demonstrate our community spirit, we have had the Well #3 tower off of Old Route 66 painted in the Waynesville Tigers school colors. Finishing touches will be completed around the first week of November.

Please remember Veterans Day on November 11th and show your gratitude towards our military veteran's at the Veteran's Day parade which will be held in Waynesville this year. Our appreciation for our military veterans who have defended our great Nation is a debt of honor we bestow on those heroes. Please thank our veterans, and remember those who are currently defending us at this very time across the world and keep each every one of our military service members in your thoughts and prayers.
