A goal set in the Pulaski County Growth Alliance Strategic Plan is to have incentive tools to attract new business and help existing business expand.

The Missouri Department of Economic Development has designated all of Pulaski County with the exception of one census tract on Fort Leonard Wood as Missouri Enhanced Enterprise Zone number 77.

The application had to be processed before May 1, 2010 to get the whole county included.

This was accomplished by the cooperation of the County Commission, and the cities of St. Robert, Waynesville, Richland, Crocker, and Dixon.

This tool offers tax credits and tax abatement to companies that meet certain criteria.

A Dixon business, Cord Moving and Storage, has made the first application to utilize the Enhanced Enterprise Zone to expand their business.

We have also been working on a USDA Rural Development application to develop and implement a regional economic development strategy for FLWRCGA.

There will be 2 regions in Missouri selected to participate in this pilot program called "Stronger Economies Together" (SET).

The value of this grant is in technical assistance and educational support valued at $15,000.00.

I will be attending the Global Retail Real Estate Convention May 22-25. There will be over 30,000 people at this convention with more than 3800 retail participants and over 1,000 exhibitors.

I will take in educational workshops and make contacts with retail exhibitors and retail developers.
