Thank goodness Spring Is almost here! The Bureau is excited
for the 2009 tourist season to start. We have worked hard
promoting Pulaski County at various tradeshows as well as
placement of advertising in 11 national publications. The
Visitors Center has received most of the 2009 Visitors Guides
for destinations around the state, and we have also expanded
our souvenir sales; which include items such as books written
by local authors, postcards, Route 66 items, stuffed animals;
patriotic bears and frogs, magnets, and Missouri flags. We
are continuing our partnership with the local museums offering
their items such as the Old Stagecoach ornament series and
the Courthouse museum sun catchers and genealogy/history books.
The Bureau is really excited about the Chamber's office expansion.
They will be moving to the lower level of our building this
month and will actually be able to spread their arms and not
touch the walls. This has been a project in the works for
some time and Cecilia has worked hard planning, negotiating
and organizing, to see this dream come true. I know she appreciates
all those individuals and businesses that have helped through
donation of monies, supplies and man hours. This expansion
and move is nothing but good and the Tourism Bureau/Visitors
Center will continue our wonderful partnership with the Waynesville-St
Robert Chamber of Commerce in providing services to our community
partners as well as visitors and people relocating to our
area.
March brings the opening of PFAA's "Jake's Women",
a Neil Simon comedy, about Jake and the women in his life.
Performances will be held March. 6-7th, 13-14th, 20-21st at
7:30pm, and March. 15th at 2:30pm at the Theater on the Square
in Waynesville. This is a great "date" night out,
and tickets are just $7 for adults.
The Waynesville -St Robert Chamber of Commerce "Taste
of Pulaski County and Basket Auction" will be held Mar
28th. If you have not made it to this event in the past, please
put it on your calendar. It's a great time! You are able to
sample food from area restaurants and bid on many different
baskets. Some of last year's baskets were very clever and
contained items such as gardening items, pet products, movies
and popcorn, a day at the golf course, airline tickets and
more.
And don't forget April 3rd is the YMCA's Fabulous Fakes fundraiser.
This event is attended by "famous" characters which
are there to sell their "wares" to attendees of
the luncheon. Who will be there this year? Elvis? The Wizard
of Oz? Superman? Make your reservations with the YMCA to find
out!
Please email the Bureau at email@visitpulaskicounty.org
with any community events, festivals and meetings. Mitzi posts
this information on our online calendar and on our lobby board.
We also share this information with the media and surrounding
Visitors Centers.
