The Tourism Bureau is starting off the new year at a run!
This
is tradeshow season where we attend various tradeshows, promoting
Pulaski County. We will be promoting our family friendly outdoor
activities, educational museums and dining options at various
Outdoor/Sportsmen shows in Missouri, Illinois, Kansas, Oklahoma
and Texas.
We meet and greet potential visitors, hand out the Pulaski County
Visitors Guide and hold a drawing for Pulaski County gifts.
We will also be meeting, one-on-one with up to 80 tour operators
and bank travel clubs at the American Bus Association and
BankTravel Marketplace appointments.
During January and February we will be holding workshops for
hoteliers, restaurants, attractions, shopping and event planners
to explain the new website introduced by the State of Missouri,
Division of Tourism, www.visitmo.com. The hotel workshop will
be held January 21st, event planners January 22nd. Restaurants,
attractions and shopping workshop dates will be announced
shortly. All owners must go online to list their business
for it to appear on the VisitMo.com website and you must go
back online after January 15th to submit the listing for the
printed State Visitors Guide.
I am currently working on building a Meet and Greet program
for the various group tour buses and reunion groups that come
to our area. This program will offer a tiered choice of programs
in which the groups can choose various activities they would
like to experience. They will be able to choose themed meet
and greets here at the center, restaurant, photo opportunities
at historic sites, dining entertainment and more. If you or
any organization's in the county would be interested in learning
more information, please give me a call.
Why are groups so important to the communities??
Group Tour's =
40 people x $10 lunch = $400.00
40 people x $15 dinner = $600.00
100 gallon gas tank fill up= $160.00
25 room nights x $65 = 1625.00
Souvenir shopping 30 x $10 = $300.00
Total Expenditures $3085.00
This doesn't include fees distributed to organizations involved
in meet and greet programs, museum tour fees, step on guide
fees
Bus tours bring additional revenues into the communities as
well as sales tax revenues for the cities and county!
