The 2015-2016 class of Leadership Pulaski County
met for the first time in September. The class began with
a welcome and orientation dinner followed by a day on Fort
Leonard Wood. View photos from the welcome

session. The Leadership Pulaski County class will meet
once a month for six months. Each monthly session will focus
on a different aspect of Pulaski County as well as the individual
leadership skills, roles, and opportunities each participant
can utilize to contribute to the growth of the community.
The class looks forward to its second session in October which
will focus on history and tourism.

Chamber Luncheon Sponsorship Lottery
In order to provide our membership with an equal opportunity
to host a monthly luncheon, the Chamber will hold a lottery
drawing each November to determine the following year's sponsors.
To be entered into the lottery business
names and contact information must be sent into the Chamber
no later than October 30, 2015. At the November
luncheon on the 18th at the Waynesville Career Center the
drawing will be held and sponsors will be assigned for the
next calendar year in the order they are drawn. This policy
took effect with the 2011 luncheons. The cost to host a luncheon
is $250 and with that your business will be featured in the
monthly Chamber newsletter, given 15 minutes of speaking time
at the luncheon and have the opportunity to place materials
at each table. Sponsors also donate two door prizes to be
given away during the luncheon.

"In Your Honor" Veteran's Day Parade
Waynesville-St. Robert Area Chamber of Commerce and the cities
of Waynesville and St. Robert invite you to participate in
the 2015 Veterans' Day Parade and Ceremony on Wednesday, November
11th beginning at 11 a.m.
The parade will line up in the St. Robert Municipal Center
parking lot. The parade will officially step off following
the ceremony at 11:30 a.m., and will go from the Municipal
Center, turn right onto Missouri Avenue, turn left onto Old
Rt. 66, turn around at Citizens Mortgage Company, and end
at the St. Robert Community Center. Missouri Ave and Old Route
66 will be closed from 11:30 a.m. to approximately 1:30 p.m.
It is recommended that commuters find alternate routes.
The drop-off location for the parade will be the Paul's Furniture
Outlet parking lot. Drop-offs will not be allowed at the St.
Robert Municipal Center. If you have more than one vehicle
in the parade you must arrive to the line-up together to be
in the parade together. Line-up will be between 9:30 a.m.
and 10:30 a.m. We encourage participants to attend the ceremony
which will be held before the parade starts. The parade may
be cancelled in the event of inclement weather.

Promote Your Business to the Ladies at Fort
The Waynesville-St. Robert Area Chamber of Commerce
will host the Fort Wood Community Spouses Club (FWCSC) community
caravan on November 6th.
The Chamber is collecting items, such as coupons, fliers,
or small gifts, to put together a goody bag for each of the
ladies. The Chamber is also collecting door prizes to be given
during the event. This is a great opportunity to showcase
your business. If you are interested in contributing to the
goody bags or would like to donate a door prize please drop
them off to the Chamber by 5:00 p.m. on October 31st.

Nominations Open for the 2015 Citizen of the Year
The Waynesville - St. Robert Area Chamber of
Commerce is preparing for its annual Citizen of the Year Award
to be presented at our Community Leadership Awards Banquet.
From now until November 13, 2015 the Chamber of Commerce
will be accepting nominations from Chamber members. A one
page letter outlining the candidate's qualifications and experience
will comprise the formal nomination form, as well as a cover
sheet including the following information: nominee's name,
home address, office address, home phone number, office phone
number, sponsor, point of contact, day phone number, and a
150 word summary of the nominee with his/her photo.
The Citizen of the Year Award is meant to recognize
a person who has performed outstanding and dedicated service
to the community and/or towards helping others over time not
for a particular year of service. The individual nominated
must have provided such service in the Waynesville-St. Robert

Fireball Run Team 10 - Pulaski Pride Sponsors
Team 10, Cecilia Murray and Representative Steve
Lynch traveled down the east coast promoting Pulaski County's
economic development and tourism while competing in a live-sized
trivia game and helping to find Allyson Corrales, a missing
child from Kansas City. Our own Pulaski Pride team came in
at tenth place overall and third in the Sports Car Class.
The team could not have done it without the

On October 1st the Chamber Surprise Patrol visited
two Chamber member businesses to recognize them as the Chamber
Business Showcase member recognition program recipients for
the month. The October Business Showcase recipients are Sanman's
Car Care and AireServ of Mid Missouri. The Surprise
Patrol visited both businesses and dropped off a special sign
that will be displayed throughout the month. Business Showcase
recipients are drawn each month. The Surprise Patrol will

October is always a busy month as we continue
to present the Choices program to all the 8th graders in
Pulaski County. The events kicked off on October 2nd with
the Community Pride Night at the Waynesville High School
Homecoming football game. We celebrated a black and orange
pride day with the Homecoming Parade that afternoon. Then
everyone joined us for a tailgate party like never before
where we handed out 1,500 free hot dogs! The next day was
the Frog Race on October 3rd during Frogtober Fest at the
Waynesville City Park. Adopted frogs had been in training
and were prepared for the race to win cash.
Chamber is starting to work on our 2016 Calendar
of Events. Don't forget to send in your community calendars
as soon as you can. It helps prevent multiple events on
the same day.

at one of our fall harvest farms and festivals.
Did you know Pulaski offers 5 area farms all offering different
experiences from petting zoos, educational opportunities to
learn about antique tractors or milking processes. Adults
and children alike enjoy the various games offered from pumpkin
catapult, pumping bowling, corn box, corn mazes, duck races,
zip-line and taking a hayride out to the patch to find that
perfect pumpkin to carve and place on your porch.
There are plenty of haunts in Pulaski County too! Check out
the Lazy Day Haunted River Float, the frightful Haunted Hill
or the COPS Paranormal Investigations at the Talbot House,
every weekend in October.
Fall festivals and special events range from Spooktacular
Walking Trail in Richland, the Halloween Bash at the Shrine
Park, Kelly Miller Circus to benefit the Waynesville Little
Hero's Park, Route 66 Ocktoberfest, Zombie Run 5K, Ken Mellon
- Jukebox Junkie and Sammy Sadler - Tell It Like It Is will
be featured at The Barn in Dixon, and that is not all...check

A few of the marketing projects that the Bureau is working
on: we freshen up our billboards along Hwy 63 N in Calloway
County and Hwy 65 in the Springfield Market. Working on the
scripts for the 2 Brand USA videos and we will be hosting
the crew the first week in October to shoot the destination
video and a Route 66 segment for a video we have partnered
with Springfield and Joplin. Released our fall geo-targeting
campaign which features a fall get-away quiz and contest in
the Oklahoma market. Work has begun on the 2016 Visitors Guide.
And we attended the Missouri Outdoor Communicator's Conference,
which we won the bid last year to host this conference in
fall of 2016.
The Bureau has hosted several groups to the area ranging
from several different military reunions, the Czech Republic
Route 66 Association, the Route 66 Association of Missouri
for a 2 night event, and a bank travel club. Speaking engagements
included presentations to the Route 66 Association of Missouri
Motor Tour and the Fort Leonard Wood Spouses Club.
Several regional meeting were attended; the first general
membership meeting for Naturally Meramec an agritourism network,
Emerging Markets , a Route 66 Caucus with Missouri legislators.

am starting this article writing about the Waynesville Motor
Vehicle and License Office. The Pulaski County Growth Alliance
obtained the contract management rights November 2009 to operate
the DMV and renewed a contract April 2014 to April 2018. We
are fortunate to have a wonderful facility to do motor vehicle
and license business. This facility was built for a motor
vehicle license operation. We had the facility built with
customer service and a pleasant atmosphere in mind. I know
DMV's have a reputation for being unpleasant! The Waynesville
office is known for great customer service statewide. It is
not only our facility that is great, but we have excellent
employees who serve the public.
We will have some changes in personnel effective October
1, 2015. Amanda Rule our office manager has accepted a position
with the State of Missouri. Amanda has done an outstanding
job for Pulaski County and we wish her well in her new position.
We are pleased to announce that Victoria Sharpensteen is being
promoted to the office manager position. Victoria has over
four years experience in motor vehicle and licensing operations.
We are also, pleased that Paula Daniels a former DMV employee
is joining the staff. Other staff members are: Donna Foster,
Beverly Comte, Kayla Taylor, and Deborah Voiles.
The Waynesville Motor Vehicle and License Office are open
8:00 AM to 5 PM daily Monday thru Friday. The office is also
open the last Saturday of the month from 8 AM to Noon. If
you have questions about your transactions please call 573-774-8400,
I have written several times about the importance of having
available buildings for business and industry. The project
to build a spec building for the Waynesville Industrial Park
has hired Ireland Architect's to design and assist in the
construction of an Industrial Building. We are hopeful bids
for contractors will be completed in October and construction
started this fall.

This month has turned into another busy one. The tire
recycling project turned into a huge job for the City's
workers. It was to be a one day job for the City and it
became a week. I want to publicly thank them for their hard
work. Everyone chipped in and gave time to the project.
We expected maybe 5000 tires and instead, 10,000 showed
up. We were surprised with the number and I am told that
it took twelve semi trucks to haul them away. A good project,
but we weren't prepared for the numbers. Betty Atterberry
had received a grant from DNR and asked us to be a sponsor
and help with the removal. This was a good community project
and removed thousands of tires, that in many cases, would
have ended up in the rivers and woods.
We are busy working on the budget for next year and I
always enjoy it. I know that sounds strange, but it is interesting
to hear each supervisor talk about their plans and projects
for the next year and then prioritize them all. Last year,
the budget was $17.9 million. This year it appears to be
less, as we have finished several big projects. Projects
to look for in the coming year are: the Dyer Street Bridge,
the new Farmer's Market pavilion, major work on G. W. Lane
Street, the building of a spec building in the Industrial
Park, the beginning of the Little Heroes Playground, the
Route 66 widening work and the completion of the new City
Hall. It will be a tight budget with so many important projects
to fund, but we will make it work. City and state governments
are governed by laws that must be followed. For example,
we must balance our budgets. We also, are limited as to
the amount of debt service we can carry. These are both
good rules for local governments. The budget process is
a great way to determine goals and objectives and carry
through with them.
The project to remove the Roubidoux Lift Station from
the creek bed began in earnest this month. This iconic feature
of the downtown area near the bridge has become a huge environmental
problem over the years. With the help of a FEMA grant, the
sewer lift station will be moved onto North Street, out
of the way of flood waters. We plan to complete this before
the end of the year. Another project from the flood event
will be the demolition of our street department buildings
at the RV Park. We plan to construct a pavilion on that
site for the Pulaski County Farmer's Market. There will
be a bathroom facility and ample parking for them.
The City is sponsoring the Kelly Miller Circus on October
14th. There will be two shows, 4:30 and 7:30 in the Roubidoux
Park. Advanced ticket sales will benefit the Little Heroes
Playground. Tickets will be pre-sold and we expect to sell
out both shows. You may purchase tickets at the City Hall,
the I Bank and Security Bank. Advanced prices are $12 for
adults and $6 for children. Kelly Miller Circus features
animal acts, trapeze acts and clown performances. Please
purchase your tickets and help us spread the word. See you
at the Circus!
Oktoberfest on the Square is October 17. The local churches
will host Pumpkin Fest in the Roubidoux Park, October 31.

This annual event will occur on October 23rd, 2015 from 6P.M.
- 9P.M. at the St. Robert Community Center.
Halloween in the Park is coming up and we hope to see you
there. We offer a night of spooktacular family fun for all
ages. The fun will include hayrides, costume contests, games,
bonfire, candy, and free food. If you or your business would

Veterans Day Parade
On November 11th, St. Robert will be hosting the Veterans
Day Parade. St. Robert and Waynesville alternate hosting the
parade. The parade will start at the St. Robert Municipal
Center parking lot. Ceremony starts at 11 a.m. and the parade
will follow at 11:40 a.m.
WSR Youth Sports Program
Registration begins in October for the following sports: Basketball,
Volleyball, and Cheerleading. You can register your child/children
at the Tiger Typhoon Aquatic Center. For more information

Shop with a Cop
We are currently requesting donations to support the children
of our community. Any donations can be dropped off at the
St. Robert Police Department or at City Hall. Shop with a
Cop will take place December 19th, 2015. More information
