Meet Your Board
 Carey
Heitman
Carey Heitman represents State Farm Policyholders for Pulaski
County and surrounding area. Carey began his career with State
Farm Insurance Companies in 1999 and has been a State Farm
Agent since 2004.
Carey has been a Member of the Pulaski County Chamber of
Commerce since 2004. He supports various committees and organizations
in the Pulaski and Phelps county area.
After Graduating from Rolla High School, Carey attended the
University of Missouri Columbia, where he played college golf
and graduated with a Bachelor of Science. He then received
his secondary education from the American College in Pennsylvania,
where he received his Chartered Financial Consultant designation.
In addition to his insurance and financial service duties
for State Farm and his clients, Carey also runs a small farm
in Pulaski County. When he is not working to help his customers
manage their risks and recover from the unexpected, you will
find him playing golf, fishing, or hunting.
Carey is proud to be an influence for the flourishing Pulaski
county area and is honored to serve the community and its
local businesses. He looks forward to being on the Chamber
Board.
 2015
Polar Meltdown Chili Cook-off
The Chamber will kick off 2015 with the eighth
annual Polar Meltdown Chili Cook-Off to be held on January
24th at the St. Robert
Community Center from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. An event the whole
family can enjoy, the Polar Meltdown Chili Cook-off lets you
come in from the cold and let your spirits melt into a pot
of delicious chili served up by one of our hometown chefs!
Admission for this event is $5 (10 and under are free). Tickets
may be purchased in advance through the Chamber office. Limited
tickets will be available at the door.
Teams are made of no more than six members while
individual teams are made of no more than three members. All
competitors will be expected to follow the rules and regulations
set forth by the Chamber of Commerce and Pulaski County Health
Department. The entry fee for this event is $75 per business
team, $50 non-profit team, $25 per individual and the deadline
to enter is January 5th. A late entry fee will apply to all
entrants after that date. Booths are 8'x10', include two 110
electric power receptacles (average 10 amps per outlet) and
will be decorated by each team.
The Polar Meltdown Chili Cook-off is sure to
offer some great food so come out and enjoy an afternoon of
fun and excitement at the seventh annual Polar Meltdown Chili
Cook-off where the only chill you'll feel is a spicy one!

Leadership Awards Banquet
The Waynesville - St. Robert Area Chamber of Commerce is
preparing for its annual Community Leadership Awards Banquet.
This memorable event will be held on Friday, February 13,
2015 at the St. Robert Community Center with social hour beginning
at 6:00 p.m. followed by dinner at 6:30 p.m. This event is
held to commemorate the hard work and dedication to community
exhibited by our area leaders, non-profit organizations and
civic groups, as well as announces the Citizen of the Year.

Will Be in Your Basket?
This year the Waynesville-St. Robert Chamber of Commerce's
Annual Taste of Pulaski County & Basket Auction to be
held on Saturday, March 28th from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. at the
St. Robert Community Center. Have you thought about what you'll
be putting in your basket? All items submitted are greatly
appreciated and help to make this event the largest and primary
fundraiser the Chamber holds throughout the year.

Pulaski County
The 2014-2015 class of Leadership Pulaski County
attended its fourth session on December 11th. The focus on
this session was Volunteerism and Community Service. The Class
will be volunteered at Life Care Center Waynesville and helped
with the Snack in a Pack Program. Click here

to its January session which will focus on City, County, State,
and Federal Government & Workforce Development.

Business Showcase
On January 2nd the Chamber Surprise Patrol visited
two Chamber member businesses to recognize them as the Chamber
Business Showcase member recognition program recipients for
January. The January Business Showcase recipients are Lamb's
Donuts and Post Realty and Associates. The Surprise
Patrol visited both businesses and dropped off a special sign
that will be displayed throughout the month. Business Showcase
recipients are drawn each month. The Surprise Patrol will
be out again in February to recognize the next recipients.

Anyone with a Shop Local Key Tag can
visit a participating business and receive a discount
or take advantage of a special offer. Key Tags are
FREE and available at all Chamber events as well as
the Chamber office. Key Tags will be available during
regular office hours at the Chamber office.
This program is open to any type of Chamber
business including retail, restaurants, fitness, service
businesses, or any business wishing to give a special
promotion to residents. Your discount or special promotion

will be a successful year for your business and employees.
The Chamber staff is starting the year off with a bang as
we prepare for all our spring events. We would like to thank
the members that have made the commitment to sponsor our
events in 2015. If you have not already done so, please
show your support for the Chamber by faxing us your signed
sponsorship form and helping to make our events successful.
We are currently preparing for our upcoming fundraiser the
Taste of Pulaski County & Basket Auction. We will be
calling all those that have not filled out a sponsorship
form and asking for your help. 
Welcome
to the new year! Last year about this time I wrote about the
Route 66 Summit that was hosted by the World Monument Fund.
This conference brought many ideas and relationships together
across the Route. One key element to conference attendance
is follow through, taking what you have learned and applying
it to your day-to-day and bringing back that knowledge to
your community. One project brought back from this conference
is to bring development along our 33 miles of Route 66 in
Pulaski County. An initial discussion was held in December
where it was immediately seen that there is tremendous interest
in moving forward. In fact 6 days later the community of Devils
Elbow came together to light the 1923 Steel Bridge for the
holiday season! A meeting is scheduled for January 5th to
form an organization to oversee development opportunities
within Pulaski County along the Route. If you are interested
in learning more please give me a call.
