A big thank you to all the Chamber members who made donations; restaurants who shared their outstanding food; Ambassadors/Board of Directors/Volunteers who helped with the event and those in attendance to include the bidders. President's Message

Laura Schoephorster

Hello, I am Laura (Brock) Schoephorster. I work for Citizens Bank of Newburg at our St. Robert location at 907 Old Route 66. I am very excited to be assisting with our awesome Waynesville-St. Robert Chamber of Commerce Ambassadors once again.

I was born in the Waynesville Hospital to Bill and the late Velma Elam and have lived in Pulaski County all my life; graduating from Waynesville High School more years ago than I care to admit. Recently I married Terry, with the long last name we have all become to know, from Clinton, Iowa. I live on my family farm in the Laquey area with my son, Logan, and 2 granddaughters, Alexis and Alara. My oldest, Mason, currently resides at the Lake of the Ozarks. Tyler, my youngest, is a senior at Missouri State University in Springfield completing her degree in Elementary Education.

In October 2014, I had the privilege of going to work for Citizens Bank of Newburg as Vice President, bringing over 32 years of banking experience in all areas of the banking world. I am a 2007 graduate of the School of Banking at the University of Wisconsin-Madison and enjoy any educational opportunities life presents.

This community is my life and I look forward to working hand in hand with the Chamber and promoting our great community.

One of the economic development boards I serve on is the Meramec Regional Development Corporation.

The Meramec Regional Development Corporation is a 501 C3 volunteer loan board that partners with the Meramec Regional Planning Commission and area banks to provide additional financing resources to assist small business in creating jobs. The MRDC board consists of a mixture of local individuals in the finance industry, non-profit sector, business owners, and government officials.

There are 3 representatives from Pulaski County who serve on the board. The other members are Carol Carson and Gerry Lewis. There are representatives from the 8 county area composing the Meramec Regional Planning Corporation. MRDC has staff members who work with potential borrowers and their banks and present their projects to the MRDC board for review and loan approval or recommendation.

The loan programs available are SBA 504 loan, Revolving loan fund, Micro Enterprise program, and Intermediary relending program. The Staff also provides loan packaging services for USDA Business and Industry Loans, and SBA 7(a) loans. These programs help new business and existing business reach their financial objectives.

In summary the benefits of MRDC programs are as follows.
* Assists with job creation and retention
* Shares risk between the local partner bank and other entities
* Reduces owner injection
* Provides long-term fixed rates
* Provides gap financing.

The MRDC has funds available in the revolving fund, micro enterprise fund, and IRP. For more information contact MRDC staff Maria Bancroft at 573-265-2993 or me at 573-336-2123.

From the Banks of the Roubidoux!

Dear Citizens:

Many thanks to the citizens for turning out in record numbers for the Fort Leonard Wood Listening Session. It was an historic night with all the statewide elected officials, as well as our Congressional delegation, being in attendance. Hopefully, our visitors got the message that our community loves our military neighbors and we offer many positive opportunities for growth in the future.

We say goodbye this month to Gen. Leslie Smith and his wife, Vanedra, and CSM Terrence Murphy. They have been great to work with and the City wishes them the best as they move to their next assignment and the CSM into retirement. We also say goodbye to Mayor George Sanders of St. Robert, as he chose not to run for re-election. George and I have been personal friends for many years and I wish him and Faye many happy years together. Debbie Adkins also, leaves St. Robert after serving many years as the City Clerk. We wish Debbie and Doug a great retirement, also.

And leaving the Waynesville City Council this month are Will Paolicelli and Jim Mathews, as they also, chose not to run for re-election. We thank them for their service and wish them good luck. I have enjoyed working with Will and Jim. Remember that Municipal and School Board elections are April 7th. Be sure and vote.

Several projects are taking shape in the City. We are extremely proud to have installed the Trail of Tears exhibits in Laughlin Park, as part of the National Historic Trail. We plan a dedication ceremony in the next few months. Possibly, when the Cherokee Riders come through as part of their annual "Remember the Removal" ride in June, we will plan a joint affair.

We continue to work on the Dyer Street low water bridge, the Roubidoux Park Stage, the hard surfacing of the walking trail and the Route 66 widening project. Our Street Department has moved into the new Waynesville Municipal Center and we continue to work on remodeling that facility to move our City services there in the near future. The fund raising for the Little Heroes Playground has taken off and we have almost reached the halfway mark. Jim Bales, with the help of Signs in Time, has built some thermometers to show the progress of the fundraising. You can see them around town. Thanks to Jim and Tom, and to Billy Fenton for helping to install them. Everyone should be a part of the Little Heroes Playground.

Remember our City-wide Spring Clean up Day is April 8th. The American Legion Riders are hosting an Easter Egg Hunt in Roubidoux Park on April 4th. Remember to SHOP LOCAL and support your friends and neighbors.

Have a great April!

**Please note** The Chamber of Commerce is excited to have such a large number of its members attend monthly luncheons. Unfortunately, due to the large number of last minute Chamber luncheon attendees a policy has been put into place by the Chamber Board of Directors. This policy started in APRIL 2005; anyone who responds after the R.s.v.p. cut-off time (9:00 a.m. the Tuesday before the luncheon) or shows up without an R.s.v.p. may be charged an additional $10. If an R.s.v.p. is received and they do not attend the luncheon there may be a $10 charged for the meal. The decision was made to charge this amount to compensate our Chamber member restaurants for the last minute adjusts they must make to their menus.
