President's Message

Karen Hood, Ambassador Treasurer

The Ambassadors Club is comprised of 28 community minded volunteers from the Chamber membership. Our mission statement is "To serve our Chamber, our membership, and our community with integrity."

It is with pride and positive community spirit that empowers the Ambassadors to serve as the official goodwill representatives of the Chamber.

Ambassadors, in our blue jackets, welcome new members, speakers, special guests and other groups and individuals to the Chamber. We also serve as an extra pair of hands for the staff during Chamber events. The most important role the of the Ambassador Club is our promotion of understanding and confidence in the Chamber among its membership and the general citizenry of Waynesville-St. Robert and the surrounding business area. We also promote Chamber membership to all eligible businesses, organizations and individuals.

This year, to further our commitment to the community and to invest in our local youths, the Ambassadors Club created a scholarship program for community minded high school seniors. The Waynesville-St. Robert Chamber of Commerce Ambassadors Club announced the first recipient of the 2011 Community Minded Ambassadorial Scholarship, Michelle Hooper.

It has been a busy and exciting 6 months for the Ambassador Club and we look forward to continuing our mission to the Chamber.

As America celebrates the birthday of the United States of America this month, please take a moment to reflect on the Pledge of Allegiance.

I pledge allegiance to the Flag
of the United States of America,
and to the Republic for which it stands,
one Nation under God, indivisible,
With Liberty and Justice for all.

In the Business Attraction Area what are the chances of landing “The Big One” ? In an average year there are approximately 100 economic development projects involving 100 jobs or more in the United States.
I have seen two such projects in the last 60 days requesting for proposals . One was for a steel mill operation and the second was for a call center.
There are approximately 20,000 economic development organizations pursuing those projects. The chances of landing the “Big One” if everyone had an equal chance it would happen about every two hundred years. Therefore an entrepreneur development program is where we need to focus our efforts. This is where the employment base can expand. The components needed for an entrepreneur program are;education& training, technical assistance, financing & capital, and a mentoring system. Many of these components are available in the community.
We need to package those components available and develop new ones to make a program. A vehicle to deliver the program is an entrepreneur club.
If you are interested in the entrepreneur club concept or you know someone who is a potential entrepreneur please contact me by email director@pulaskicountymo.com or call 573-336-2123. I plan to have a program in place this year.

"COME GROW WITH US"

On June 10, 2011, the grand opening of the Tiger Typhoon Aquatic Center was attended by approximately 80 people. After the ribbon cutting and a brief tour of the facility, the center was opened for general admission at noon. Over 450 people took advantage of the facility to beat the over 90 degree heat on open-ing day. Although the facility is open for business, there are additional items which will be added in the coming weeks. Those items will include lockers, 100 chase lounge chairs and the completion of the outdoor audio system.
For information regarding pricing, season passes and facility rental, please call 573-451-3314 or visit our website at www.saintrobert.com/residents/Departments/Park/pool.html.
