Tourism Notes

New Year Greetings!

The 2010 Visitors Guide is hot off the press! This guide features listings of attractions, hotels, restaurants, shopping and personal services throughout Pulaski County. These guides are distributed to Visitors that specifically request information on our area from advertising they have seen, from visiting our website or phone calls received in office. They are also distributed at our center, welcome and visitors centers throughout the state as well as at tradeshows that we attend. In 2009 29,982 guides were handed out.

In 2009 we also rolled out our new website and community calendar. We introduced Travel Bingo and several traveling game downloads, built a strong group tour program, expanded our souvenirs sales and attended 23 tradeshows as well as hosted an overnight for Missouri Showcase.

Speaking of the new website...don't forget we have an Industry section to the site that is just for our tourism partners. This area is accessed with a log on and password (The phone number we have on file for your business, xxx-xxx-xxxx,, and the password" partner")and you are able to download forms, review board minutes and our 2010 marketing plan, or if you are looking for presentations on orienting your staff on tourism issues, or learn how to make a brochure or the importance of gathering data or research on your customer base…The Industry section is where it's at!

We are excited for the new year to begin with new programs and fresh approaches to promoting tourism in Pulaski County. We will be introducing an interactive component to our tradeshows, direct mailing campaigns to our group tour leads. Be sure to watch for several other programs that will be introduced in the spring.

Hopefully things have quieted down for a few weeks and if so, take a moment to stop in the center and see what we have to offer. Yes, we meet and greet visitors to the area, or those traveling through, but we are also a great resource for our locals. People are always amazed when they stop in and see what all we do offer.

Event Planners! Don't forget that the Bureau offers a Cooperative Marketing Grant. This 50/50 grant program is available to help you with advertising and marketing costs that promote your events held in Pulaski County. Forms are available through email or by download from VisitPulaskiCounty.org. We will be scheduling a 1 hour workshop in March to review the program and give you an opportunity to ask questions.

The Pulaski County Tourism Bureau Board and staff wish you a prosperous 2010!
