Taste of Pulaski
County & Basket Auction
Things were Rockin' and Rollin' at this year's
Waynesville-St. Robert Chamber of Commerce Taste of Pulaski
County & Basket Auction! With
record profits at over $11,000 the Chamber Staff and Boardsend
out a BIG THANK YOU to everyone who donated items, sponsored,
attended and/or purchased all the wonderful baskets and
packages supplied by our area businesses and groups. We
are continually in awe of the capacity for giving demonstrated
by the entire Pulaski County area and we graciously accept
your support. The funds raised allow the Chamber to continue
their community service efforts like the Community Forums,
Choices Program and the Veterans' Day Parade.
This year's theme was "Let's Go to the
Hop" and it was a treat to see so many poodle skirts
and leather jackets under one roof. Richard Baptiste, owner
of Paul's Furniture, kept the bids rolling in as the event
auctioneer with help from event announcer Miss Rodeo Missouri,
Melissa Houttuin. Little Miss Rodeo, Makayla Coch was on
hand to help draw names for door prizes, and entertainment
was provided by Miss Pulaski County, Jenna Bilyeu.
The Chamber Basket Auction has been a staple
event in the area for quite some time now, but this is just
the second year that both events, the Taste of Pulaski County
and the Basket Auction, have been paired together. To keep
the momentum of this two great events pumping we're already
gearing up for next year, so get out your calendars and
mark this date, March 29th, for the 2008 Taste of Pulaski
County and Basket Auction.

Phelps County Regional Medical Center (PCRMC) continues to grow to meet the changing health care needs of the residents in its six-county service area.
PCRMC medical services include:
· Cardiac catheterization lab
· Cardiac rehabilitation
· Cancer care services
· Comprehensive Breast Center
· Emergency department (level III trauma center)
· Hospice and Home Health
· Laboratory (community and hospital based)
· Physical, occupational and speech therapies
· Psychiatric services
· Medical imaging (X-ray, MRI, CT Scanner, Bone Density, Nuclear Medicine, PET Scanner)
· Rehabilitation unit
· Sleep laboratory
· Skilled nursing facility

Starting out with 63 beds, 65 employees and 21 medical staff members in 1951, the hospital has grown into one of the state's leading referral centers employing more than 1,300 people.
The first hospital in this area was a makeshift military hospital located at the Phelps County Courthouse during the Civil War. After the Civil War, the Rolla District Medical Society was formed and consisted of doctors from Phelps, Dent, Crawford, Maries, Miller, Pulaski and Texas counties.
From early on, citizens have made health care a priority. During the 1920s, the U.S. Trachoma Hospital and the private McFarland Hospital were founded in Rolla. The McFarland Hospital moved to several locations and closed in 1946. That same year, Phelps County passed a bond and land was purchased and donated to the county by the Rolla Lions Club. Phelps County Memorial Hospital opened in March 12, 1951.
As the surrounding areas grew, so did the hospital and its services.
· 1951 - Hospital opens with 63 beds, 65 employees and 21 medical staff members.
· 1965 - The hospital was expanded by 49 beds.
· 1973 - An additional 58 beds were added, as well as expansions in the lobby, dining room and nurses' station. Additional services were also introduced.
· 1977 - Another 26 beds were added as well as an addition to the ICU, pediatrics and the ambulance garage.
· 1981-1983 - Oncology and the Stress Center were added.
· 1987 - Radiation oncology services were added.
· 1993 - East Addition was added and Ambulatory Surgery and Rehabilitation Services were expanded. MRI and Cardiac Pulmonary Rehabilitation services were added. Maternity Services, Emergency Department and Medical Imaging were expanded.
· 1994 - The acute inpatient rehabilitation unit was added.
· 1996 - The psychiatric unit was renovated to create the Center for Psychiatric Services.
· 1997 - A new cardiac catheterization lab was established.
· 1998 - Home Health and Hospice Services were added.
· 2003 - The North Addition was added for radiation oncology, physical and cardiac rehabilitation and a new state-of-the-art laboratory. Also in 2003, the emergency department underwent a complete renovation and expansion.
· 2006 - A new 18-bed intensive care unit and 32-bed acute medical telemetry unit was opened.
· 2007 - A new six-story medical office building was opened on campus to house physician offices and hospital outpatient services.
PCRMC launched a website at www.pcrmc.com that provides information about its services, as well as educational materials. For information on area physicians, please call PCRMC's Medical Staffing Office at 573-458-7555 or 573-458-7556. Information on medical and physician services can also be found on the hospital's website.
PCRMC is proud to have the opportunity to be the preferred health care provider in south central Missouri. For more information about PCRMC, go to the website or call 573-458-8899.

The Taste of Pulaski County & Basket Auction was a blast and we had a record year! Wow, what can I say but THANK YOU to all the Chamber members who made donations, Ambassadors/Board of Directors who helped with the event and those in attendance to include the bidders. Thank you just isn't enough, there is no way we could have done this without you. How will we ever top this next year? Speaking of next year mark your 2008 calendars now for March 29th for the Taste of Pulaski County & Basket Auction.
We are still looking for hole sponsors and door prizes for our Annual Spring Golf Tournament in June. If you are interested please let me know.
The Chamber is preparing for Erin to be out on maternity leave starting in the next week. We have two volunteers that have stepped up to lend a hand during this time. They are Brenda Price and Marsha Hughes. We appreciate your understanding and patience over the next few weeks while Erin is on leave.
We do have a couple of events to keep us busy in April. Sign up now for a free booth at the Regional Job Fair. In addition to a number of qualified applicants there will also a place that you can hold on site interviews. The Community Forum is also coming up at the end of April. The topic of this forum will be an update on the Economic & Community growth of our area, so make it a point to come and hear all the exciting news.
If you have any questions please give me at all at 573-336-5121.
Happy Easter! |
Greetings.
I hope April showers of profits are falling on all of you.
It is my sincere wish that all of us prosper. Afterall, that's
why we open our doors everyday and work as hard as we do.
But I know it's not always easy. We face issues in our area
that are unique to us. Your chamber leadership is keenly aware
of them and are continually addressing them with the appropriate
people. I want to thank you for your support and confidence
you have in us. Remember, it's takes all of us working together
to be successful and to grow our community. It's not about
ME. It's about US! If the community grows, more than likely,
you will also. Join the ranks, and let's march together.

Brad
Budolfson
A graduate of College of the Ozarks a.k.a. "Hard Work
U" in Branson, Missouri, Brad Budolfson moved to Lebanon
in May of 2005. Brad and his wife of 10 years, Errin, came
to the area to manage a new branch of Hogan Land Title. On
June 1, 2005 Hogan Land Title Co of Pulaski County opened
its doors on Missouri Avenue in St. Robert.
While in Branson, Brad received a degree in Business Administration
with an emphasis in Marketing. He also worked at the college
to pay for tuition while holding an off campus job as an assistant
golf professional at Ledgestone Country Club in Stonebridge
Village. After four years of instructing, playing, and basically
breathing golf, Brad took a job as a lender at Branson Bank.
This small "hometown" bank, taught him the value
of community and leadership in the community.
In Waynesville - St. Robert and the surrounding Pulaski County,
Brad was excited to find a close knit community that shared
the values of community involvement and leadership. He quickly
joined the Rotary Club of Pulaski County and Friends of the
Fort in Lebanon to develop community ties in his new home.
Brad and His wife have enjoyed the past two years in this
area, and look forward to a great future here.
When not being active in the community or working, Brad enjoys
all sports. With an extensive background in golf, you will
most likely find him hitting the links in his spare time,
but he also enjoys basketball, tennis, disc golf, biking,
and fishing.
Brad is excited about serving as a Chamber of Commerce Ambassador,
and looks forward to his future in the Waynesville-St. Robert
area. "It is a wonderful and unique community that I
have the pleasure to serve. I look forward to the opportunity
to do so, and the relationships that will be gained through
community involvement."

If April Showers bring May Flowers, what do May Flowers bring?.......Pilgrims!!!
It is so nice to feel the warm sun shine on your face and see the beginnings of Nature renewing itself as trees bud and flowers bloom. The Tourism Bureau goes through a similar renewal process each Spring. Spring presents an opportunity for the Tourism Bureau to spread the word about our area and its offerings, road trips, camping, canoeing, fishing and other outdoor activities. This is the time of the year that our Spring Marketing campaign is in full swing. There are ads in Southern Living, AAA's Living and Home & Away magazines, Show Me Missouri, Midwest Living and ads in seventeen Midwestern cities' Sunday travel section inserts. All told, the spring advertising campaign will reach over five million subscribers.
As you begin to plan your own spring and summer travels, don't forget the Visitor Center has thousands of brochures from tourism businesses and attractions available for free, as well as the comprehensive Missouri Vacation Planner, the state's visitor guide. The Visitor Center is open 8-5 Monday thru Friday and will begin Saturday operations the Saturday after Easter. The center will be open 9-3 on Saturdays.
The Tourism Bureau staff, (really just Beth), is already inputting information on tourism related businesses in Pulaski County for the state-wide visitor guide for 2008. If you want to be listed, please ensure Beth has your pertinent information. If you are not sure, verify your listing in the 2007 Missouri Vacation Planner or check on-line at www.VisitMo.com. If we don't have your up-to-date information you may not be listed, or listed incorrectly, so please check with us if you have any questions.
See you at the State Affiliate Welcome Center!!!

**Please note** The Chamber of Commerce is excited to have such a large number of its members attend monthly luncheons. This policy started in April 2005; anyone who responds after the R.s.v.p. cut-off time (9:00 a.m. the Tuesday before the luncheon) or shows up without an R.s.v.p. may be charged an additional $10. If an R.s.v.p. is received and they do not attend the luncheon there may be a $10 charged for the meal. The decision was made to charge this amount to compensate our Chamber member restaurants for the last minute adjusts they must make to their menus.
